Quality materials in expert hands

The choice of materials is essential for the creation of the Italian handmade eyewear. Only the finest materials are used for the TBD Eyewear collections: from acetate to bio acetate, from 24 carat gold to rhodium. The expert hands of our craftsmen work these precious raw materials according to traditional and artisanal techniques.

Hand-made versus factory-made, what are they different for?

The production process of a handmade pair of eyewear line is complex and articulated. There are passages unknown to many that make a pair of handmade eyewear a million times better than a factory-made one:

• Meniscatura – they curve the front by hand, without the aid of machinery

• Burattatura - the tumbling, a treatment that hones the surfaces of the fronts and temples, carried out inside wooden barrels with pumice stone and oils;

• Rivettaura - the riveting the hinges are assembled by hands and not simply glued, this implies not only greater durability, but also more softness in the movement of the temples thanks to our Teflon screw;

• Allineamento - the alignment, of the temples which is always done by hand;

• Levigatura - the final wheel polishing is handcrafted too and guarantees a glossy or satin finish that lasts a lifetime, without the use of artificial paints
